# Move from Chatwoot to Opskeet

Free on every plan. Start in **Settings → Import & export → Chatwoot**: do it yourself with the keys below, or pick **Ask your AI agent** for a ready prompt that walks you through it.

## Keys

1. Sign in to Chatwoot as an administrator and copy the address from your browser. It has your account number, like /app/accounts/1.
2. Click your avatar at the bottom left, open “Profile settings”, and copy the “Access Token” at the bottom. On Chatwoot Cloud this needs a paid plan.

You'll paste: “Chatwoot address”, “Access Token”.

## What moves

Agents, contacts (including anonymous visitors), every conversation with messages, private notes and files, labels as tags, canned responses, and help center categories and articles.

**Doesn't move:** Automations, macros' actions, inbox settings and agent bots.

## Good to know

- Works with Chatwoot Cloud and self-hosted. On Cloud, the API needs a plan with API access.
- Use an administrator's token: an agent's only sees their own inboxes.
- Your site's `$chatwoot.setUser`, `toggle` and `reset` calls keep working, and `identifier_hash` stays valid with the inbox's HMAC token saved.

## Switch the chat

Replace Chatwoot's snippet with Opskeet's. Your site's existing calls keep working; move them to [Opskeet's API](https://opskeet.com/docs/install.md) when convenient.

## After it's in

1. Look over a few conversations, then click **Import the rest** if you started with a sample.
2. Forward your support email to your Opskeet address (Settings → Email). In Gmail, choose "Forward a copy" and save; in Microsoft 365, allow automatic forwarding. A redirect rule keeps replies threaded best.
3. Swap the chat snippet (Settings → Import & export → Switch the chat).
4. Publish the imported articles, and point your old help center's domain here.
5. Click **I've switched** once nobody uses the old tool. New activity there keeps coming in until then, as open conversations.

Nothing imported is sent to anyone, and Undo removes what an import brought in. Full guide: [Switch to Opskeet](https://opskeet.com/docs/switch.md).
